Meet the Board

Jason Evans

Position: President

At Penn: B.A. Candidate, Class of 2018 | Sophomore in The School of Arts and Sciences | Majoring in Criminology

In the Future: I am currently undeclared but I have a passion for Law and Accounting. I hope to take my 8 years of experience as an accountant in the development office at Penn Law and apply it to the realm of Forensic Accounting.

On LPSSA: I felt a strong connection with the LPSSA. I liked the work that they’ve put into making LPS students feel at home. There is so much that Penn has to offer, and with being a non-traditional student it can be rather difficult to navigate. I hope to do whatever I can to alleviate some of that difficulty and continue to help the LPSSA thrive.

About Jason: I am a part-time Penn student and a full-time accountant at Penn’s Law School. In addition to LPSSA, I am also a board member for Philly AIDS Thrift, a non-profit consignment store which donates its proceeds to AIDS Service Organizations in Philadelphia. For many years, I have been an accomplished bartender and have been known to pop-up at a variety of bars throughout the city, specifically bartending for charities. Growing up in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, I moved to the city and have always considered Philadelphia home. When I'm not studying or socializing with fellow LPS students, I spend my free time thinking of new ideas for the LPSSA.

Lois Chapla

Position: Vice President

At Penn: B.A. Candidate Candidate, Class of 2016 | Junior in The School of Arts and Sciences | Majoring in

In the Future: Lois is a Health and Societies major with a concentration in Health Policy and Law. She hopes to combine her experience as a paralegal with her education at Penn to obtain a position within the health care industry where she can help identify and obtain resources for those in need, especially in the senior citizen community.

On LPSSA: I got involved with LPSSA to give me an opportunity to be a part of the Penn community. Being a non-traditional student in an Ivy League University can be overwhelming. When I attended my first LPSSA meeting, I felt connected. This diverse group of amazingly talented individuals has so much to offer. Everyone has a story, and we can’t wait to hear yours!

About Lois: Lois is a part-time Penn student, full-time Senior Compliance Specialist at Reliance Standard Life Insurance Company in Philadelphia, full-time wife and mother of three daughters. Lois hails from Philadelphia and when not studying, working or hanging out with her family, you can find her spinning with other LPS students or taking up residency in the Fisher Fine Arts Library, one of the most beautiful buildings on campus.
